Frequently asked questions

Do you offer loans without security?

As a general rule, all of our loans are secured with a personal guarantee from the borrower as well as a general security agreement that is registered under the Personal Property Security Act.

However, we do not always require our loans to be fully secured. Much of it depends upon the borrower and the calibre of the business plan and financial documentation provided.

Our micro loans (up to $20,000) are sometimes advanced without full security.

Do I need a business plan to get a loan?

Yes. Community Futures Lambton will not advance a loan application without a comprehensive business plan.

We firmly believe that a business plan is critical to the success of not only new businesses, but every business. A solid business plan provides both a roadmap to success and the means by which to measure that success on an on-going basis.

Does bad credit disqualify me from getting a loan?

Not necessarily. All small business owners and entrepreneurs are invited to contact us to discuss.

How much money can I borrow ?

We offer entrepreneurs loans from $5,000 to $300,000. The amount that you borrow will depend on your business concept, your business plan and your ability to provide collateral to secure your loan.
