Formerly Sarnia-Lambton Business Development Corporation, we’ve got a new name and look!
This website is owned and operated by the Sarnia-Lambton Business Development Corporation (operating as Community Futures Lambton (“CFL”)).
Your privacy is important to us.
CFL is committed to protecting your privacy. We, as professional board members, staff, and volunteers, hold ourselves accountable to Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (“PIPEDA”). Ref. CFL Human Resources Policy #219.
CFL collects personal information as required to assess a prospective applicant’s eligibility for financial assistance, as well as to report to the Government of Canada, through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (“FedDev Ontario”), who administers the Community Futures Program in Southern Ontario.
Both personal and non-personal information collected is safeguarded according to the highest privacy and data protection standards available and in compliance with PIPEDA.
Our Commitment
CFL is committed to protecting the confidentiality, integrity, and security of your information through:
Privacy and Confidentiality Practices
We are committed to protecting your privacy and the confidentiality of your information.
Secure Technology
We employ secure technology and security standards to protect our systems and your information. Our organization is certified by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada’s Cyber Secure Canada program, and includes the same measures taken by the highest-rated Canadian financial institutions and data providers, including but not limited to firewall barriers, SSL encryption techniques, and authentication procedures, to help protect personal information from loss, theft, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction of data.
Collection of Information
We collect and use information with your consent. Consent may either be implied from the circumstances or may be expressly given for a particular purpose. For example, we use information to assess creditworthiness for loan applications or community economic development initiatives.
We also use the information to provide feedback on business plans while providing credit counseling services.
Before granting financing, we take steps to assess your creditworthiness. We may contact other lenders or credit reporting agencies to get information about you and your credit history. We may also contact employers or other personal references to verify the information you have given us. We will not do this without your consent, but please remember without consent, we may not be able to extend credit products to you.
Usage of Information
The information collected by Community Futures Lambton will be used solely for the purposes of carrying on ordinary business, as requested and authorized by you, and as indicated above. We will not send or deliver any unsolicited communications or communications outside of the reasonably prudent conduct of a business relationship. The information we collect will be used to create client profiles for our records only, to be used during our business dealings.
We do not disclose, reveal, share, or otherwise disseminate any personally identifiable details about yourself, your business, or your organization to any third parties. We will only do so if required to do so by law or within the course of legal undertakings.
Monitoring Website Traffic
Like most web servers on the Internet, our hosting servers maintain access logs that record web browser activity. These logs associate an Internet Protocol (IP) address with each request for content from the servers. Often this IP address is the address assigned to a visitor’s personal computer. (This IP address may be temporarily or permanently assigned to an individual computer by an Internet Service Provider or by a business’s own network administrators).
Alternatively, this IP address may represent the network gateway of an Internet Service Provider or business network rather than an individual computer.
Server logs, including these IP addresses, are used by CFP to analyze web traffic. Data from these logs help us to understand what information and services are of most interest to visitors for us to market ourselves as beneficially as possible.
In the case of abuse of our website, we may report the IP address of a suspected abuser to the appropriate law enforcement authorities.
